Services that "Artists in the Black" Offers

Arts Law is endeavouring to provide access to Indigenous artists to our full range of services, including:

  • Free telephone legal advice
  • Publications
  • Free review of contracts for subscribers
  • Access to culturally appropriate resources and information
  • Referrals to other qualified solicitor's across Australia where Arts Law is unable to assist
  • Lobbying for legal reform where necessary
  • Educational workshops and seminars on your rights as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artist
  • Legal advice nights in various parts of Australia

Legal Advice Nights

Normally to be eligible for a Legal Advice Night appointment with a lawyer on the Arts Law volunteer panel the artist must be or become a subscriber. During the pilot period of the service (until the end of 2005) Arts Law will fully subsidise the subscription for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are referred to a Legal Advice Night - they will NOT have to pay for their twelve month subscription to Arts Law.

Please feel free to phone the Centre to discuss the services of  "Artists in the Black", or to seek advice or information. For our contact details click here.
