This sample Design and Commission Agreement should be used when a visual artist is being commissioned to design and create an artwork for private or commercial purposes.
If the artwork is a public work, Arts Law’s standard Public Art: Design and Commission Agreement will be more appropriate. Similarly, in the case of some artworks which are commissioned for commercial purposes (for example, a sculpture or a mural for the foyer of a large office building), the Public Art: Design and Commission Agreement may also be more appropriate.
