This sample Image Reproduction Licence for a Publication agreement is for use when a visual artist agrees to licence an existing visual image (such as a painting, a print, a drawing, a photograph or a still multimedia image) for multiple reproduction in a particular publication.

If a visual artist is commissioned to create an image, Arts Law's sample Design and Commission Agreement is more appropriate. If you are unsure, contact Arts Law.

This sample agreement:

  • includes the most common terms that the copyright owner of the image (Owner) and the person seeking  permission to reproduce the image (Licensee) will need to consider and agree on; and
  • licences, rather than assigns copyright. Specifically, the Owner permits reproduction of an image only for the uses set out in the agreement.
