A sample visual arts agreement for use where a writer is commissioned to write a monograph or a short catalogue essay for an exhibition.

If a wider use of the work is contemplated, such as communication of the work to the public (for example, broadcasting or over the Internet) or reproduction of the work in information storage and retrieval systems, a more detailed contract is required. For further information contact Arts Law.

This sample agreement includes the most common terms which the person or organisation wanting the work made (Commissioner) and the creator writing the work (Writer) will need to consider and agree on.
