YouTwitFace: the legal business of being creative online

The internet is abuzz with creativity, much of it centering around a number of major sites: YouTube for film and video, Flickr or Photobucket for photographs, MySpace for musicians, Facebook for, well, almost everything. What's more, it is also incredibly easy (and cheap) for artists to establish their own personal websites to showcase their creations. Such platforms are fantastic for artists wanting to share and promote their work - but what are the legal implications of doing so?

In July Arts Law will be holding our second 2010 Gunnery Seminar YouTwitFace: the legal business of being creative online. This seminar will look at some of the major legal issues artists face when sharing and creating art in the digital world, including copyright, licensing, defamation, privacy, and why you should always read (or have) a website's terms and conditions. Speakers include:

Yiying Lu, graphic designer of the "Fail Whale" illustration that has become iconic with social networking service Twitter.
