A Tribute to Harold Littler

Arts Law was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of specialist IP and Entertainment lawyer, Harold Littler, principal of Harold Littler & Company.

Harold had recently returned to running his own law firm after many years at McKays Solicitors and Riverlegal Solicitors in Brisbane. Harold was also the chair of the Queensland Law Society Technology and Intellectual Property Committee and a Sessional Lecturer in IP and Entertainment Law at Queensland University of Technology.

From 2010, Harold was an active member of Arts Law’s panel of pro bono lawyers and earlier this month was a deserving winner of a 2014 Arts Law Pro Bono Award for his generous and continued contribution to Arts Law’s clients. Harold had a history of pro bono support for artists having joined Arts Law’s family after the closure of the Arts Law Centre of Queensland where he acted as a volunteer advisor as well as the President of the Management Committee. More recently, Harold had been Non-Executive Director at BEMAC, a not for profit organisation supporting the development and promotion of Queensland’s multicultural arts and artists. Harold was also a keen amateur theatre actor performing in numerous stage plays and musical productions in Brisbane.

Harold was passionate about helping artists get a fair deal and he will be greatly missed.
