1st Prize - Lowanna by Wayne Quilliam

Raffle Winners at Simon Tedeschi Fundraising Concert 2014

The prizes and the winners were:

1st PrizeLowanna Photographic Art by Wayne Quilliam, Acrylic 90cm x 70cm, valued at $3000.

Winner: Nigel Head

Professor Wayne Quilliam is one of Australia’s most prominent Aboriginal Photographic artists. His unique style encompasses the spiritual and artistic dimensions of Aboriginal culture and his art is transformed through traditional and modern practices including developing a world first technique that infuses the artwork with traditional ochre’s and plant dyes.

2nd Prize– Minyi Puru in the Parnngurr area, 2012 by Betty Whyoulter, Martumili Artists, 36 x 43cm acrylic on canvas valued at $150

Winner: Craig Sainsbury

Martumili Artists was established in late 2006 and supports Martu artists in Kunawarritji, Punmu, Parnngurr, Jigalong, Warralong, Irrungadji (Nullagine) and Parnpajinya (Newman).
Betty Whylouter was born in Port Hedland and grew up in Jigalong. She now lives in Kunawarritji community working closely with accomplished Martu artists. Their works reflect the dramatic geography and scale of their homelands in the Great Sandy Desert and Rudall River regions of Western Australia.
