Many artists create and engage in works which involve children as subjects, performers, students or co-creators. Arts Law supports working with children protocols which operate in the interests of protecting children from harm and exploitation. However, Arts Law does not support protocols which create unnecessary burdens on artists which would restrict the creation and exhibition or publication of legitimate works of art in circumstances where children are not at risk. Censorship of art in the context of child protection must be proportionate and necessary.
