Arts Law presents “Copyright: The International Agenda”

The Arts Law Centre of Australia (Arts Law) together with the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand Inc (IPSANZ) and this year joined by the Commercial Bar Association, are pleased to present our annual joint seminar. This year we are privileged to have Dr Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), as our guest speaker who will speaking about “Copyright: The International Agenda”. This is a unique opportunity to hear from Francis Gurry and meet with him informally following the session.

Francis Gurry has led WIPO as Director General since 1 October  2008. Under his leadership, WIPO is addressing major challenges facing intellectual property systems around the world. These include the stress on the copyright system brought about through digital technology, globalisation and increased demand, issues arising between developed and developing countries whilst still maintaining the fundamental goals of encouraging creativity and innovation.

This seminar is on the evening of Thursday the 21st of August in the Neil McPhee Room at Owen Dixon Chambers East, Melbourne. It will be chaired by The Honourable Peter Heerey AM QC, the Vice President of Arts Law. The evening will commence at 5:15pm and there will be drinks and canapés following the presentation.

The registration form for this event can be found here. Arts Law hopes you can join us for what will be an insightful and interesting evening of discussion.
