Classification Amendment Bill passes the Senate

Earlier this afternoon (28 August 2014), the Senate finally passed the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Amendment (Classification Tools and Other Measures) Bill 2014 (the Bill), being the first stage of reforms to the National Classification System as recommended by the ALRC. The passing of the Bill opens the way for modernisation of the Australian classification system, in particular the introduction of games classification tools such as the International App Rating Coalition (IARC) which provides for low cost and accessible classification of digitally distributed games.
