Arts Law is running a full day of workshops with Western Plains Cultural Centre, Dubbo City Council and Orana Arts in Dubbo on Saturday 18 June.

Morning Workshop : Artists’ rights: Copyright and moral rights

Duration : 2 hours 

Basic artists’ rights workshop covering: Who is Arts Law and how we can help; artists’ rights including fundamentals of copyright and moral rights and outline of trade marks; and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property

 

Afternoon workshop: Public art commissions and projects

Duration: 1 hour 

Issues for artists to consider when engaging in public art projects, including: dealing with their copyright and moral rights in this context; commissioning agreements and common problems such as copyright ownership; insurance; moral rights including in relation to maintenance, repairs and disposal; as well as a consideration of other common terms and conditions in the commissioning agreement

 

Afternoon workshop: Legal Issues for Creatives Working in Film and Theatre

1 hour 

For those involved in the collaborative process of film and theatre including: copyright, moral rights and performer’s rights in this context; chain of title; clearances; and contracts commonly negotiated
