Dreamtime at the ‘G competition – 4 stars

The Richmond Football Club is once again running the annual Dreamtime at the ‘G guernsey design competition.  Launched in 2011, the competition provides Indigenous artists with the opportunity to have their design worn by the Club’s players in the Dreamtime at the ‘G match against Essendon.  All proceeds from the sale of the match guersney go to support the Club’s Indigenous Centre, the Korin Gamadji Institute.

One of Arts Law’s focuses is to promote best practice in competition terms and conditions, advocating for greater fairness to the artists that enter them.  After looking at this year’s competition terms and conditions, Arts Law contacted the Richmond Football Club to discuss some of the entry conditions which we thought could be improved.  The Club was very receptive to the feedback and swiftly amended the competition terms and conditions in line with Arts Law’s suggestions.

We want to congratulate the Richmond Football Club on:

  • Agreeing that all rights in the entries submitted to the competition remain the property of the entrants;
  • Only asking the winner for a licence to reproduce the winning work for promotion and marketing associated with the competition and the Club;
  • Positively stating the Club’s intention to attribute the winner.

THANK YOU RICHMOND FOOTBALL CLUB – 4 / 5 STARS!
