ATOM Awards gets 5/5 stars for fairness to artists!

All the elements of a great awards (geddit?)

Australia’s second-longest running film and media awards, the ATOM Awards, are now calling for submissions for the 2014 Awards in more than 30 categories of film and media. The awards are open to students and established producers alike, and are presented by Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM), a not-for-profit organisation that has been promoting and recognising film and media excellence in education and industry for more than 50 years.

In consultation with Arts Law, the ATOM Awards redrafted several important provisions of their terms and conditions relating to copyright licensing and moral rights to make the terms fairer for artists, specifically providing that:

  • All entrants retain copyright in the productions they submit, granting a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide and royalty-free licence over up to five minutes of the submitted production only;
  • Producers will be attributed as the creators of productions wherever the productions are used; and
  • ATOM may edit productions, but only for the purposes of creating five-minute excerpts as outlined by the licence.

THANK YOU ATOM AWARDS FOR LOOKING AFTER YOUR ENTRANTS! 5/5 STARS!
