About Prizes and Competitions

There are a great many competitions and prizes for artists in Australia and internationally, all with their own particular terms and conditions and contractual obligations for entrants and winners.  Arts Law maintains an ongoing watch advocating fair and transparent contractual terms, especially where copyright and moral rights are affected. Arts law is highly critical of competitions which unnecessarily deprive artists of the copyright in their own work. It provides best practice advice to competition organisers and seeks to promote ethical and transparent conduct.
