Submission: Competition and Consumer Amendment (Prevention of Exploitation of Indigenous Cultural Expressions)

Arts Law has recently had the opportunity to make a submission to the Senate Standing Committees on Environment and Communications in response to their inquiry in to the Competition and Consumer Amendment (Prevention of Exploitation of Indigenous Cultural Expressions) Bill 2019 (the 2019 Bill). The submission was made on behalf of the Arts Law Centre of Australia, Indigenous Art Code and Copyright Agency, the creators of the Fake Art Harms Culture campaign.

We welcome the 2019 Bill introduced by Senator Hanson-Young and the opportunity it brings for engagement with the Parliament and community on this important issue.

Arts Law would like to thank Allens for their valuable work in helping draft the submission.
