This sample Cast Agreement (without deferred fees) should be used when a producer who is not a member of Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is engaging cast members for the production of a low budget film or video. If the Producer is a member of SPA they are obliged to contract with the cast and crew using the contracts negotiated between the Australian union and professional organisation for actors, journalists and entertainment industry employees Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) and SPA. For more information on the payment of cast and crew visit the MEAA website or the SPA website to view summaries of the industry agreements that set the minimum rates and conditions and to access the Actors Film Contract, the Performer’s Standard Contract for television drama programs; and the related collective agreements: for crew members – the MPPCA; for Cast Members on feature films – the AFFCA; and for Cast Members on television productions – the ATPA and the ATRRA.

This sample agreement includes the most common terms which the producer and the cast members need to consider and agree on. The document has been prepared, though, mostly from the Producer?s perspective.

For crew, use Arts Law’s sample Crew Agreement (Without Deferred Fees).
