This template Cultural and Intellectual Property Policy – Indigenous Stories should be used by an Indigenous Art Centre (Art Centre) as a best practice policy in relation to the recording or transcribing for any purpose of traditional stories told by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is intended to protect the copyright, moral rights and communal cultural rights of both the storyteller and their community. This policy applies to the Art Centre and visitors to the Art Centre.

This template policy includes a template Consent to Record Stories which can be used when the Art Centre plans to record someone telling a traditional story (see Appendix A).
