What’s on: Artists in the Black

The Australian Government is running public consultation on Australia’s next National Cultural Policy, building on the work already underway through Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place

As part of this process, a series of First Nations online forums will be held during the week of 18 May 2026.

These forums are designed to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, creatives, organisations and communities understand the consultation and take part in the public submission process. Input from a broad range of First Nations people and organisations is critical to the development of the Policy.

The 1-hour forums will cover:

  • an overview of the National Cultural Policy consultation process
  • guidance on preparing a submission
  • where to find information and support.

The main purpose of the forums is to raise awareness about the consultation process and support organisations and community members to participate in the public submission process, including providing an overview of the flexible submission options. It’s important to note the forums are not formal consultation sessions, but we will explain how you can share your views via the submission process.

We’d really appreciate your help sharing this opportunity through your networks and communities. We’ve attached a one-page fact sheet you can share with your networks.
