Outreach in the Torres Strait

Arts Law travelled to the Torres Strait in May 2021 in the first outreach trip to art centres in the region this year. With the generous support of law firm King & Wood Mallesons senior solicitor Donna Robinson travelled with solicitor Rebecca Stanley to Moa Arts and Badu Arts. We prepared wills for artists and discussed various legal issues raised by artists and art centre staff.

While in Cairns we also took the opportunity to meet with two Indigenous language centres regarding the partnership between Arts Law and First Language Australia and the services Arts Law provides. This marks our first opportunity to visit language centres in person since the partnershp began in June 2020.

We are so excited to be able to get out and visit communities around the country.
